Prologue

It's the fifth consecutive day that the sky is grey and the environment is full of fog. I almost can’t see my feet. I am wandering near a lake and I just had the occasion to drink some water, after almost two days without it. It tasted like the best thing in the world. I must eat now.

Finally, the war is ended but it is a month that I am walking towards home to see my wife and my children. The thing is, I don't see any recognizable place around here.

Am I lost?

“What is that light down there?” - I thought.

I slowly walk towards it and I see a man sitting and swinging on his chair while he is fishing.

“Good evening Sir” - I tried to speak to him but I didn’t receive any answer.

Is he dead?

I slowly got next to him and suddenly he wakes up.

“Aye Sir! What a wonderful evening, isn’t it?” - said the man as he started talking.

“Yes Sir” - I said bewildered.

Then I didn't miss the occasion and continued: “Please Sir, do you have a place for me to pass the night and something to eat? I haven’t eaten in days and I slept in the forest for most of the nights during the last month.”

Rattling he said: “Let’s see. We can make an agreement. You know, I am a lonely old man that passes the days fishing. I have no one to talk to...” - I didn’t understand where he was going with that.

He continued: “If you listen to the stories of my life about fishing I will give you a place to stay and every kind of fish I capture today. What do you think?”

I was dying to sleep and eat something, but it was the best thing I could do, so I decided to accept.

“It’s an honest agreement, Sir, I accept”

“That’s great! Now, I will give you three letters. Order them as you please and then come back to me. The letters are L, B and D.” - said the old man.

“Good. Have you ordered them in your mind? Now I am ready to tell you my stories” - he continued.
