Epilogue

While the old fisherman told me all these stories I didn’t felt hungry or thirsty, instead, I paid full attention to his stories.

“After telling you the Beginning of my life, how I met the Death and how I learned to Love, I will keep my word” - said the old man.

One second after, from his fishing rod, hundreds of different types of fish came out going into a container full of water that was next to his house behind us.

I was astonished.

“Now, I must thank you because you listened to my stories. You can stay at my house as much as you want and you can eat those fish that I just caught. I ask you only one more thing” - he said.

“Don’t be greedy and eat more than you must to satisfy your stomach.”

I agreed by nodding, without saying a word.

The old man then said: “Now, I must say goodbye to you” and he started walking slowly into the lake.

I continued to watch him until he was completely under the water.

When he faded away, one moment after, he started glowing in blue light while, next to him, another white glowing light appeared. I shrank my eyes so I could see better and then I understood: the girl in the water was the girl with whom he fell in love.

I stood then some minutes trying to understand what just happened. The stories were so strange that I didn’t believe some parts of them.

But suddenly I remembered.

When I was a little child, my mother always told me a story. The story of the God of the sea. The old man that I just encountered was the child of God of the sea and the new God. Even if he wasn't the next legitimate heir, he received his powers from his father when his brother died. Maybe that was the light that flashed towards him.

After having some rest and eating something, I decided to head back home as fast as I could. I told the story to my family and we all decided to go back to the little house, built on the rest of the destroyed mansion. 

My family and I started living there, making it the very first temple of the new God of the sea.
